Buddy Pairs

It can be very useful for people to work in pairs throughout a course. These pairs can provide support and bring an extra dimension to reflection sessions.

You can stick to the same pairs for the whole course — or you can vary the pairs if you want to determine the group's attitude to change:

Ask them to pair up with someone they don't know. See if they are adventurous in their choices. If they are not adventurous, ask them to chose another buddy for a later exercise. If this does not seem to have much effect, try asking how many people are sitting in the same seats as when they arrived — you will be often be surprised to see more than 50 per cent of the group have not moved!
